Oh my gosh the sky is falling the sky is falling! That seems to be the all the rage for Sony news headlines lately. With the PS3 garnering the biggest target on it’s back as the product that Sony will be cutting in order turn their corporate sinking ship around. What am I talking about well articles like this one over at ZD which is a pretty main stream media website. I just loved the click on me attention grabbing headline to “Is the Playstation Doomed?” oh brother what drama we weave with our mighty blog posting.
There are other articles like that one popping up all over the internet lately. No question that Sony has some major issues going on and there certainly looks to be some major restructuring that will be going on for 2009. Well guess what big name companies are doing the same thing all over the place.
Let’s be sensible about what you are writing though people. In case you have not noticed the video gaming industry as a whole just had another banner financial year and that included the PS3. Despite being in 3rd place for hardware sales for the year it was still a great year for PS3 sales. It would have finished in second if not for the price drop given to the 360 late in the year which gave them a huge boost in sales to finish out the year and another year on top between the battle of true next gen machines. Not counting the Wii in this battle just because they are on a whole other playing field.
Anyway all this talk and all the articles popping up about the end being near for the Sony machine is laughable at best. Sony may indeed close shop on certain products due to the ever changing global economy. They will not and I repeat not be shutting down the gaming division, there is way to much money to be made in video gaming and the year we just had for video games in spite of economic crisis should be proof enough.

Maybe you would be taken more seriously if you knew the difference between "its" and "it's" and didn't write like a 13 year old who got a PS3 for Christmas.
